The course

Better golf, from the ground up.

A more beautiful, more playable Ironwood, with the character of Gainesville and more ways to enjoy every hole.

Start with the conditions you feel

Healthy greens, fresh sand, better drainage and careful day-to-day maintenance come first. Our plan prioritizes turf recovery, targeted irrigation and drainage repairs, bunker work, planting and the details that make a round feel cared for.

We intend to improve retained bunkers and consider grass features where problem bunkers are better reimagined. Course care is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time opening project.

A great property. A bigger ambition.

Over time, we want to redesign selected holes and refine the routing to make Ironwood a much stronger golf course. Better use of the property’s natural terrain, trees, open space and existing character can create more interesting shots, a better flow between holes and a round people want to play again.

We will pair that ambition with experienced golf-course design, shaping and agronomy partners, alongside our team’s knowledge of Ironwood. The plan is to bring the right expertise into the work so that routing, strategy, playability and long-term care are considered together.

The nonprofit direction gives us a reason to think bigger about what community support could make possible. Site studies, design work, funding and approvals will shape each project. We want to raise the quality of the layout while protecting affordable public access.

Eighteen holes. Another way to play them.

The full-course par-3 overlay is part of our plan. Shorter tees and dual pins with clearly differentiated flags would let beginners, juniors and experienced golfers enjoy a different way around the same course.

It gives a first-time player an approachable target and a regular a fresh challenge. Routing, pace of play and safe use of shared greens will guide the final design and operating rules.

The Nine Flip and the Air Line

Flipping the nines would connect the round to a new short-game and gathering area around today’s first hole. The Air Line is our rail-inspired wooded connection between the nines. These routing changes are planned alongside The Mosquito and require final golf and site review.

Work with the land

Native planting, shade-tolerant landscapes and better water management can make the course more beautiful while caring for its long-term health. We want to use the property as a place to learn about soil, plants, turf and course care.

Our design priorities include accessible arrival routes, clubhouse facilities, restrooms and participation opportunities. We are pursuing relevant education and agronomy relationships; none is represented as an established institutional partnership.
